FAQ's

Q1) How do you make a comic?

We are planning on making an in-depth tutorial, but for now, just read a short brief on the comicing business. ^_- First off, we plan out what we're going to need in this issue compared to issues that we've already released. For example, if we've had two issues of plot development/action, and one with character development, we'd probably choose to further character development instead of moving on with the main plot. That way we have a break from the main plotline, keeping it from becoming monotonous. Then we type up the script on the computer, following our previous decision. After that, we take our 8x10" drawing paper and lay out all the scenes so we know how many pages we will have ahead of time. Then we go through drawing in all the boxes, characters, props, etc. We usually do backgrounds last. After we're finished with a page, we scan it into our computer and open the images up in Paintshop pro. We do all the layering, texturing, editing, words, sound effects, boxes, page numbers, etc. in this program. When we're done with all the pages, we stuff them into a .ZIP file and upload them so people may download the issue. We also keep a copy unzipped, and from this, we upload the images to Keenspace so the online viewers can read the comic daily. We also print off every page and take them into Office Max to make copies. We make booklets, double-sided, and put our own covers on. Then we deliver them to those who do not have access to the internet, but still want to read the comic.
Q2) Why do you hate girl power so much?

You're already misunderstanding this comic. We do not hate girl power: in fact, we very much appreciate what women have done for us in the past. However, it's become so commercial and overdone that we think they've actually lost the true meaning of the virtue. You see, the Spice Girls seemed to portray girl power as sexy hair, clothes, makeup, and accessories. Lots of people associated them with "girl power," thinking that this was what it was. That couldn't be farther from the truth! We poke fun at those people. Girl power isn't about being in style... and we all should know that. Many people think we hate Sailor Moon and the positive things it says to young women. We don't hate Sailor Moon, and we don't hate what it has to say. We poke fun at it because it's absurd at times, and we think everyone knows that, too. One of the things Sailor Moon has to say about girl power is that friendship should be valued above all else. Why does that only apply to women? It also shows girls being kind to other girls, and very powerful feminine enemies. This could apply to men as well, don't you think? And wouldn't it be hilarious to see men fighting like that? Be lighthearted. We're not trying to bash people and their ideas: only the fake images that society has created. True power doesn't belong to one gender or the other, one race or another, or any of that. It's a human thing, and anyone can hold it. They can also destroy and mutate it. It's very subjective when in the true form. So overall, we're only poking fun at the fake ideals, and trying to tell you what real power is. We'll get there eventually. ^_^ For now, lighten up and don't take what we say so seriously! Try to enjoy it and relate to it. Things will go so much smoother that way.
    Q3) Is Kei gay?

This will be explained in the comic. It will take a bit to get through, but you will know eventually. Promise. ^_^
Q4) Is Dorian actually a vampire?

This will also be explained in the comic. It's extremely complicated though, so we will try our best to explain everything as well as possible. So you'll find out eventually, just not now. ^_^
    Q5) What's wrong with you?

Many, many things, our friends. Bwa. Ha. Ha. We very much enjoy eating nylons and sharpening pencils. It makes a whirring noise when you do so. It is amusing. Farts are amusing, as are people falling over. And if they do it simultaneously, well... *snort.* That's really funny.
Q6) Where can I find out about the artist(s)? I personally like reading about who's behind this sort of thing.

We're currently working on our "about us" page. Er... for now, visit our animequeens page and browse around a bit to find out things about us.
    Q7) Is this a shonen-ai comic?

Yes and no. It has shonen-ai content. It is NOT specifically shonen-ai. We are on the GaySpace dropdown. We will have shonen-ai and probably some shojo-ai content. But again, it isn't SPECIFICALLY shonen/shojo-ai. You can use us as a reference for such things, but just remember that Shonen Chikara will have other content BESIDES shonen/shojo-ai. ^_- Again and again. Mwa Mwee. This should be fun. We're gonna try to put as many different genres as we can in here. We love variety. It's like a variety show that doesn't make any sense!! So be looking forward to sci-fi, shonen/shojo-ai, romance, drama, comedy, horror, and lots of other goody goody stuff.

Shonen Chikara is copyright the animequeens, 2000-2002. Please don't steal our stuff, because it's not cool to do so. Yep. If you want to use our characters for something, please ask us permission first. Thanks. Email us at: [email protected] for fanart, fanfiction, questions, comments, chat, permission, or whatever.
